Present & Former Pak PM Sharif Brothers- Nawaz and Shahbaz face brickbats after terror strikes in J&K

Rashmi Talwar

AMRITSAR  June 13, 2024————–

In what could be the first message to India’s new government, Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan congratulated the Indian PM Narendra Modi a day after the oath-taking ceremony, on his winning the Indian elections and the PM seat for the third term with the terse one-liner- “Felicitations to Narendra Modi on taking oath as Prime Minister of India”. The message on ‘X’ social networking site formerly Twitter, whiffed off the sourness of being sidelined for an invitation as a guest, for the Indian PM’s oath-taking ceremony was intense.  Indian PM’s  response was equally brief –“Thank you for your good wishes.”

However, Former Pak PM and President of the ruling PML-N party Nawaz Sharif’s message of congratulation carried warmth for the Indian Prime Minister – “My warm felicitations to  Narendra Modi ji on assuming office for the third time. Your party’s success in recent elections is reflected in the confidence of the people in your leadership. Let us replace hate with hope and seize the opportunity to shape the destiny of two billion South Asian people”, he wrote on ‘X’. In reply PM Modi wrote- People of India have always stood for Peace, security and Progressive ideas. Appreciate your message, Nawaz Sharif.”

Niceties were however short-lived and remained only on virtual platforms with no further ado, as after 4 attacks in 3-days sponsored by Pakistan, the scales tilted again in favour of icy and retaliatory responses. The wars in present times are first fought on social Networking sites like ‘X’ formerly Twitter or Facebook.

Sonam Mahajan a strategist thinker and commentator on events in Afghanistan and Pakistan

With a following of 508K on Twitter in a scathing remark on ‘X’ asked the former Pak PM-

“Mian Saheb, do you have Asim Munir on board this time?

While you claim to want to replace hate with hope, your army chief continues to play war games in J&K.

Please have a word with the boys before they make you eat crow once again, like back in 1999.

To PM Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif Varun Sharma wrote –“The response to felicitations will come once we avenge all three Raesi, Kathua, Doda …”

Salahuddin Shoaib Choudhury Award Winning, editor of Blitz weekly magazine from Dhaka Bangladesh ——— wrote, – And his (Pak’s) intelligence agency ISI is continuously conspiring against #Bharat and #Bangladesh. Unless #Pakistan abandons its habit of promoting, funding and patronizing terrorism, it cannot be accepted as a genuine friend by any of us. If Pakistan wants to prove its sincerity, let it abandon patronizing terrorism first.

Anand —- Bharat will never trust your nation, Mr. Sharif! Not anymore!

Only a matter of time before your nation breaks Adding a report – Where Pak-backed –“The Resistance Front” an offshoot of Lashkar –E- Toiba Front claimed responsibility for J&K bus terror attack in Reasi District that killed 9 including the driver and conductor and left 41 injured as bus fell in a deep gorge.

Ved Malik, Former Indian Army Chief and author of the books- “Kargil: From Surprise to Victory’ and ‘India’s Military Conflicts and Diplomacy’ wrote rather maturely–“A welcome diplomatic message. But the latter part (and wish) will be possible only when Pakistan Army comes under political control as expected in a democracy”. The former Army Chief commands a following of 133K Followers.

Adithya wrote that terror and talks can happen if the talks help in nabbing the terror culprits. The biggest issue with Indo-Pak relations is the lack of trust and inaction on security concerns. I hope both nations work on supporting each other’s security concerns. One wrote- By now the whole world knows the true nature of Pakistani establishment. They are living on foreign aid received as remuneration for exporting terrorism. Only the Pak IT cell is supporting Pakistan, the citizens are busy fighting and looting flour and petrol.

Sabee Kazmi — a Pak Anchor, Vlogger, Boxer and an ‘Educated’ Journalist based in Australia reply to Nawaz Sharif on his ‘X’ platform for his 128K followers –

“Hypocrisy at its best: In his own country, the most popular leader with an 80% mandate from Pakistanis is in jail (Imran Khan). Women and children are also imprisoned, and they have stolen the 182 seats of PTI, the largest party, which is not allowed to conduct any political campaigns. Their election symbol was taken, and their leadership is in jail. Despite this, Nawaz Sharif and his party clearly lost the elections in front of the worldwide media, FAFEN, PILDAT, and other independent election organizations.

Meanwhile, he is offering “MODI JI” a peace proposal, while in Punjab; his daughter is acting like a female version of Hitler towards political women prisoners. Modi too knows his true nature very well.”

Jamil Khan scoffed at the PM’s post –“My foot… people of Pakistan rejected him in the 8th Feb elections. He was defeated by an old and jailed lady, Dr Yasmin Rashid, but this so-called leader of Patwaris chose to get MNA seat on Form 47.. A true and brave leader faces the defeats and learns from mistakes!”

Ado Burang Sn Civil Engineer with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh-“ It really doesn’t matter to an ordinary citizen like me. India is tired of trying to mend the fence. We have moved ahead. Pakistan is no longer in our scheme of things today. We can’t waste time experimenting in relation to work.”

Lt Gen KJS Dhillon(Retd), former XV Corps Commander (Tiny) on Youtube –Calls it – “A full-fledged country’s might is working to destabilize Jammu &Kashmir after the abrogation of article 370 post 5th Aug 2019, which shouldn’t be taken lightly.”

Memoona Mehtab-“Have you heard the saying, ‘A leopard can’t change its spots’? It means that people cannot change their innate nature or character, no matter how hard they try to appear differently. The corrupt remain corrupt,” she blasted the PM. Nideesh Gupta — “Yup, your Mature Leader signed a Peace Treaty with Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1999, when he invited him on a Tour to Lahore!

After 4 months, your Army Attacked Kargil! After 8 months, you lost the Kargil. This is Peace? Huh? Trust?”     Khalid Makhdoomi replied –“Please check his platelet, he may need to go to UK soon. @#$@$# Bloody Thief!

Recently Nawaz Sharif admitted –“It was our fault’ Pakistan violated the 1999 Lahore Declaration signed with India before the Kargil War…

The Lahore Declaration signed by Nawaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, aimed to bring peace between the two warring nations, and was signed on February 21, 1999, in what was touted as a historic summit”.

In an apparent reference to General Parvez Musharraf’s Kargil misadventure, former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif said, “On May 28, 1998, Pakistan carried out five nuclear tests. After that Vajpayee Saheb came here and made an agreement with us. But we violated that agreement…it was our fault.” The former prime minister was speaking at a meeting of the PML-N general council that elected him president of the ruling party.         To this,  Srikant Bedekar retorted –“What a mature politician. It took him 25 years to accept that Kargil was Pakistan’s doing!” Managing Director of Onetape India Shailesh Shah added – “This is the same Nawaz Sharif, who did Kargil after a gesture visit of Lahore by our Prime Minister Vajpayee ji, and did a Pulwama attack after a gesture visit of Modiji in his family function. Take care in giving certificates dear. Mukh me Ram bagal me Chhura wala dogala insan hai Nawaz.”
